Challenge 1 - Supply Chain Management
The HS2 operation involves a complex supply chain, consisting of a wide range of suppliers ranging from large multi-nationals to SMEs. Curation, oversight, and effective management of the supply chain are key to ensure effective delivery of the programme.
The HS2 Accelerator is open to ambitious SMEs who are developing disruptive digital technologies that will make a substantive impact on our ability to extract the maximum value from our supply chain and supplier relationships by addressing the following challenge areas.
The challenges we want to address
How can we utilise data or digital technologies to improve our supply chain engagement and management, including:
- Contract management, this may include:
Digital tools to support data extraction and consolidation from supply chain contracts to develop a consolidated view across HS2
Merge and comparison of contracts to identify potential risks and opportunities across supply chain agreements - Collaboration and visibility of operations across the supply chain, this may include:
Improving collaboration within the supply chain, for example, helping organisations to identify opportunities to work together and share skills and best practice
Sharing of performance and delivery data, key contractual objectives and delivery status between supply chain organisations
Capturing the breadth of organisations and skills within the extended HS2 supply chain - Visibility of supply chain activities, this may include:
Consolidation and insight of supply chain activities against contractual and delivery requirements - Opening the HS2 supply chain to the market:
Digitisation and publication of the HS2 supply chain to increase visibility and engagement from new providers in the market
